SALESFORCE GOOGLE SSO

Google Single Sign On (SSO) is a revolutionary feature for enterprise software providers that use Salesforce. It allows users across the organization to quickly and easily authenticate with Salesforce. As a Salesforce release management, data backup and recovery, and security software provider, it is essential that you understand how Google SSO works to empower your clients.

At its core, Google SSO is a form of federated authentication. Rather than having a separate username and password for Salesforce, the user is authenticated through a trusted identity provider, such as Google. This allows users to quickly authenticate and establish a secure connection with Salesforce services.

Google’s SSO service works in two different ways: one for non-enterprise users and one for enterprise users. For non-enterprise users, access is automatically set up to connect with Salesforce using their existing Google credential. For enterprise users, Google SSO requires additional set up by administrators.

Administrators can set up a unique URL that will direct the user to the login page for Google SSO. This page asks them to enter their Google accounts usernames and a verification code sent to their registered email address. Once verified, the user will be authenticated and given access to Salesforce.

The key benefit of Google SSO, especially for enterprise users, is that it reduces the time spent managing multiple authentication systems. With a single sign-on setup, you can reduce the risk of users not having access to their Salesforce account due to forgotten or expired passwords. This set up also provides easy customization options for administrators, such as setting up number of unsuccessful login attempts and session timeouts.

As a software provider working with Salesforce, understanding how Google SSO works and how you can help your clients set it up are both essential steps. For any of your clients using Salesforce, offering Google SSO as an authentication solution is a great way to keep their accounts secure while also decreasing the time needed to manage multiple passwords.
